Mario Sibaja was born and raised in Tapanatepec, a town in Oaxaca, Mexico. His artwork, which has been displayed throughout all of Los Angeles, will be at Stay Gallery beginning November 10th through mid-December. Sibaja has showcased at: Los Angeles City Hall, the Hollywood Bowl, Million Dollar Theatre, the Long Beach Convention Center, and countless other places.
“Painting was first an act of passion, then became work, and today it is a responsibility to me.” - Sibaja. For this exhibition, Sibaja chose to showcase artwork portraying important aspects of Pre-hispanic culture. The theme highlights agriculture as a treasure and paints his characters as powerful people in hopes of inspiring all those who see his art.
The opening reception for The Corn will take place on November 10th at 7pm. The event is free and suitable for all ages!
Stay Gallery would like to thank one of our biggest supporters, Downey’s Amapola, for sponsoring the event, and for introducing us to Mario Sibaja! Without Amapola, our event would not have been made possible. Their contribution will allow us to continue our mission of civically engaging our community through art and culture and we are eternally grateful!
Thank you for taking the time to read this and we hope you enjoy our exhibit!
